Despite the fact that the current church building is less than 15 years old, having been officially opened by Her Royal Highness, Inkhosikati laNgangaza on 4th March 2006, the number of people attending services at Zakhele FEA has burgeoned beyond imagination due to the work that God is doing in this church.
As a result the current church capacity of approximately 2000 people cannot accommodate all the believers who come for worship, resulting with some people standing or seating outside during services, which is not an ideal situation as they are exposed to heat and rain in summer and the biting cold in winter.
The company of the prophets said to Elisha, "Look, the place where we meet with you is too small for us. Let us go to find the Jordan, where each of us can get a pole; and let us build a place there for us to meet" And he said, "Go". - II Kings 6 : 1 - 2
The church leadership therefore deemed it necessary to engage on a project for the construction of a bigger structure with a minimum 3,000 seating capacity. The initial plan was to construct the new church auditorium at the church’s current site along Nkambule Street in Zakhele Township however the space proved not to be adequate considerate the space that would also be needed for parking. For that reason the church then identified and bought a larger space of land between kaZakhali Private School and the Ngwane Park Shopping Centre.
The project was officially commissioned by Pastor L.S. Msibi on 2nd March 2014, where he quoted scripture (II Kings 6: 1 – 2). The initial estimated cost of building this structure at the site in Zakhele was about E10m and the church then committed to complete the fundraising project within a period of 5 years hence the slogan, “Project 10/5” was coined. To get the ball rolling two Project Committees were established; the Fundraising & Technical Committees. The role of the former was to come up with strategies of raising project funds whilst the latter was tasked with overseeing the actual construction. Both committees periodically report to the church Leadership and membership in order to keep every stakeholder informed and involved. Ever since the project was initiated, brethren have been fully supportive through pledges and offerings that they have made in cash and assets and this has enabled the church to raise a significant amount of money such that in excess of E10m had been raised by the end of the 5-year period.
. Fundraising activities for the project include month end services whereby Zakhele FEA invites speakers from Eswatini and beyond and is usually joined by brethren from other denominations. ZFEA members have also committed to monthly offerings for the duration of the project and many have already seen the goodness of the Lord by partaking in the project.
